Each topic is like the stage hand who is preparing the set for the drama to unfold. You become the partner in the play with a very effective and powerful ‘hands-on’, or should I say ‘face-on’ guide book for guaranteed success. The foundation is based on the business networker’s role in becoming and attracting PowerPartners. Through the process of sharing ideas, information and resources, the focus does an about-face from ‘getting’ referrals to ‘building relationships’. It’s not selling – it’s developing and growing business partners that has the leading role. Face-to-Face Networking Skills offers a ‘non-pressured’ approach for fantastic results in the art of networking. But as with all things that look easy, it’s the preparation that is the backdrop for successful business networking, With this prep book, networkers can increase the focus, the confidence and the outcome of business networking. It is the best ‘how-to’ networking book out there! Everyone wins with this book!

I first met Mindy Selinger about eight years ago at an East County Chamber of Commerce event. I went there to network for a new career after spending over 30 years in the creative arts field. I was nearing the senior age and I needed a change. I thought I was an expert on Networking…after-all,.. I had studied with Dottie Walters, (the late) Anne Boe, and other professionals in the field.

Mindy & I chatted during that first meeting, exchanged business cards and then circulated to meet other guests. That week, I subscribed to Mindy’s email list and blog (the San Diego Networking Guide) and have been grateful ever since. I continue to “bump” into Mindy over the years at different events and have studies her techniques via the internet. When she had an introductory workshop on Networking, I attended. Even though I have not been able to clear my schedule for the full 4-week training, I did learn a lot from that intro and from her blog.

Thanks to Mindy’s techniques, I was able to re-invent myself in several different areas, including a new personal relationship.

When she announced on her website that she was writing and publishing a book on networking, I immediately ordered it. (In fact, I was told I was the 2nd person to purchase it.)

When I finally received it, I was initially disappointed in its small size (4×7 – 101 pages) thinking, ‘How would it look on my bookshelf’? But after reading and working it, I’m glad of its over-all size: The one-page format and its spiral binding made it easy-to-read and handle.

Chapter 1 – The Game Plan really set the tone for what’s to come. I like the idea that Mindy placed the objectives of the book in the beginning…then set out in clear, definite terms on how to achieve those objectives. At the bottom of each page is a 1-sentence summary or key point to remember. The format, the type and the outline made the book a very useful tool that the reader can fully understand and use in every day situations. I personally like her use of the word “PowerPartner”, a term she uses to refer to a business alliance. I have since used this term to extend to my personal contacts, in addition to my business associates.

Even though you may have read and studied other books on networking theory & techniques, I strongly recommend Face-To-Face Networking Skills In A Social Media World by Mindy Selinger. I also recommend visiting her blogs (for San Diego readers the SanDiegoNetworkingGuide.com…for others, it’s NetworkingEventFinders.com. Mindy is a very giving person who is available to help…Her smile and her work signifies that. The Face-To-Face Networking Skills book is a MUST-HAVE for any library.
